Citizens Advice Bureau

 

The Citizens Advice Bureau are able to provide advice on benefits, debts etc. and they have a disability advice team who can advise on disability related issues.  They will also help people fill in forms such as the DLA form, Carers Allowance etc.  They are no longer holding drop-in sessions at their offices in Hounslow but you can ring and make an appointment.  There are drop in sessions in Feltham and Chiswick and drop in times can be found here.   The Hounslow telephone number is 020 8572 1082

 

PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE NOW SESSIONS ON WEDNESDAY MORNING AT THE CIVIC CENTRE, LAMPTON ROAD between 10.30am and 1pm.  People will be seen on a first come first served basis.

EHCP Independent Advice and Support

 

If you are going through the process of changing from a Statement to an EHCP (Education Health & Care Plan), you can obtain advice and support from the SEND IASS Team.  Contact no:  020 8583 2607 or email SENDIASS@hounslow.gov.uk.

 

You can also obtain independent support from Independent Support Partnership (ISP) who are part of Richmond Aid but also provide support to Hounslow Parents Carers.  Their contact number is 020 8831 6076, email: independent.support@ichmondaid.org.uk.

 

Both can provide help with going through the EHCP to make sure that all the relevant informtion is in there to help you obtain the support you need for your child.

 

 

Family Fund

 

Family Fund supports families with grants for essential items such as washing machines, bedding, respite.

Fledglings

Our Barn Youth Club

 

Our Barn is a youth club for young adults with special needs from 16 to 25.  They meet on Sunday at 3pm until 6pm and get involved in lots of activities.  For more information see their website http://www.ourbarn.org.uk/about-our-barn/

This is for anyone who has a child or children who are high functioning , with or without disability.  This is a very knowledgeable charity that has been going for 50 years.  The website has a lot of advice and there are advisors that you can call

 

Unique is an organisation that provides information and support to families who have a child or adult with a chromosome disorder.   They can be contacted by phone or email for information and advice and they produce booklets on many of the different disorders.  Click here to visit website.

NEWS   -    We are holding a  Preparing for Adulthood Information Event on  7th September 2018  This is about what happens when a young person with additional needs leaves school/college.  We have invited representatives from organisations that provide services for the young people and carers.  Parent Carers are welcome to bring along their child/young person.
